Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. Apart from his performance in the drama series "The Killing, he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC drama Sherlock. He played the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television series. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in the year 2019. He claims that his brother and he first picked up English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches of comedy.
